I’ve worn them, you might have too, and you have definitely seen them before; trust me, they are hard to miss. If you haven’t guessed it from the title, I will be talking about the infamous plasty clogs, Crocs. They were founded in 2002, and ever since then, they have been in the eyes of the media. They especially made waves in the fashion industry around the mid 2000s. I remember being in elementary school and feeling like the coolest kid in 4th grade because I had dark blue crocs. Unfortunately, since those times, Crocs have been in the background. The only people you might see with these iconic shoes are your grandparents, your Aunt Linda who wears them with funky socks, your neighbour with a green thumb, or  that weird kid in your math class.

Since 2017 Crocs have slowly been making a comeback. They teamed up with high end fashion brand Balenciaga and created a platform croc; these will have you saying, “I like those Balenciagas, the ones that look like Crocs!” If you haven’t heard, platform shoes have been all the rage. They give you height and allow you to be cute and comfortable. Well played, Crocs!

On top of this, Crocs have also been collaborating with big celebrity names like Zooey Deschanel, and Post Malone. According to Terence Reilly, who happens to be the Chief Marketing Officer for the company, “Crocs is making a bold declaration that you can have both style and comfort, no matter who you are or where your life takes you.”

Since this statement, I have noticed Crocs have been represented in trendy shoe stores like Journeys, Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom and more. From what I have noticed throughout my own fashion exploration at Lafayette College: 2018 was the year for Adidas… That said, will 2019 be the year for Crocs? Of course! Since I like to be on top of my fashion trends, I got myself a funky teal pair!

My own personal Image. Aren’t they cute?
