5 Things I’ve Been Listening to During Quarantine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lafayette chapter.

If you’re like me (and the rest of the world,) the COVID-19 quarantine has been pretty boring. Along with reading, watching Netflix, drawing, and completing the millions of assignments my professors left for me, I have found that listening to music is a great distraction during this trying time. Here are five of the things I’ve been listening to (and you should too).

  1. After Hours

Like 63 million others on Spotify right now, I have been loving The Weeknd’s newest album. Inspired by his relationship with Bella Hadid, the songs on this album just hit different during the long hours of quarantine. The album contains many tear-inducing ballads such as “Snowchild” (my favorite), “Escape from LA,” and “Scared to Live.” However, songs like the faster-paced “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights” are great for your workout playlist!

  1. Lil Uzi Vert

Being from Philly, both myself and my brother have been huge Uzi fans for years, so we were both super excited when his second studio album, Eternal Atake, dropped in early March. Since then, I have become re-obsessed with Lil Uzi Vert’s music, which is great to add to a workout playlist for some extra motivation.

  1. John Mayer

If you need some calming vibes during the quarantine, turn on some John Mayer! I’ve been a huge fan of his for upwards of seven years, and I think I might know every single one of his songs by heart. From “Your Body is a Wonderland” to his cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’’’ (Harry Styles’ favorite song), everything this man puts out is enjoyable to listen to. As a bonus, he has a hilarious Instagram Live show called Current Mood (he even poked fun at that infamous “Imagine” video on it…)

  1. Free Time

While I had the “free time” during quarantine I found this album by the artist Ruel through Spotify autoplay, and I’ve been obsessed! Ruel is fairly well-known, but I had never listened to his music before. Now, you can catch me blasting the titular song “Free Time” at full volume and singing along at the top of my lungs every day.

  1.  Justin. Bieber.

I could never apologize for being obsessed with Justin Bieber. From My World to “Baby” to Journals (definitely my favorite JB album) to his newest album, Changes, Justin Bieber has been on repeat. As a bonus, he just released a workout playlist on Spotify, which I would highly recommend for those long runs during quarantine.
