15 Trendy Places to go in L.A. This Summer

Now that school’s almost out, everyone’s making plans for the summer! For those who are too broke to travel far, here are some cool things you can do in Los Angeles:

  1. 626 Night Market (June 30-September 2)

Located in Santa Anita Park and Orange County (OC Night Market), this place lights up the night, not ending until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays (12am on Sundays). The market is filled with Asian street food, live music, artists, films, and so much more! There is always something new to discover, so come hungry for adventure—food adventure!

  1. Rooftop Film Club (until June 30)

Ever wonder what it would be like to watch a movie on a rooftop? Find out at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood, or at LEVEL in Downtown L.A. Reserve some tickets and curl up with a blanket on your individual lawn chair provided by the theatre. Tickets cost $19-35 for this amazing experience!

  1. Anime Expo (July 1-4)

Anime lovers will spent their Fourth of July weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where they celebrate the culture of anime. Dress up as your favorite character (or not), learn about upcoming games or shows, and explore the wonderful world of anime. Famous stars and artists in the anime world come to speak and meet the fans as well! There is also a section of the convention made especially for gamers, so get your geek on!

Join others at Grand Park to watch the fireworks in Downtown L.A.—for free! There will be food trucks, live music, and more. Bring your family and friends (and yes, pets are allowed), and join fellow Angelenos in celebrating America’s independence.

  1. Harry Potter in Concert (July 6-8)

For all you Harry Potter fans: this one’s for you! Come to the Hollywood Bowl and watch Harry Potter 2 and 3 while the LA Philharmonic performs the music LIVE! The Hollywood Bowl is a great place to watch a movie, and the live music makes the experience extra magical!

  1. D23 Expo (July 14-16)

This year is a special year for Disneyland enthusiasts, because the D23 Expo is coming to the Anaheim Convention Center! This event is a little expensive, but you get an all access behind the scenes look at upcoming films and updates for the theme parks! Enjoy the magic as you explore the future of Disney.

  1. Lotus Festival (July 15-16)

Enjoy the fresh smell of blooming lotus flowers at Echo Park Lake while celebrating the contributions of the Asian-American community to Los Angeles. There will be plenty of cultural food, dragon boat races, and full fields of beautiful lotus flowers in a spot of nature near the city.
