‘This Is Us’ is Finally Back, and I Haven’t Stopped Crying

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at La Salle chapter.

**Warning: Contains spoilers of season two & three of This Is Us**

Fear not This Is Us fans, the Pearson clan is back!

Creator, Dan Fogelman, grasps the emotional and heartwarming story of the Pearson family and the challenges they experience throughout their lives. After the season three premiere last Tuesday, September 25th, it is clear that this season will involve a lot of mysterious plot twists- but what else would we expect?

It is reported that the entire main cast will in fact be returning to the show. Yes, you heard me the ENTIRE cast, which includes everyone’s favorite, Jack Pearson, played by Milo Ventimiglia. Since season two primarily focused on Jack’s death, no one knew if Jack would have a significant role in season three. Though by the looks of it, season three will explore Jack’s time in Vietnam, his relationship with his brother, and how his relationship blossomed with his wife, Rebecca Pearson, played by Mandy Moore, when they first met.

Speaking of blossoming relationships, Kevin Pearson, played by Justin Hartley, is fooling around with Zoe, who was introduced briefly in the season two finale. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention how Zoe is Beth’s cousin. Beth Pearson, who is Randall’s husband and Kevin Pearson’s SISTER IN LAW. Yeah. A lot of weird intertwined family relationships going on in season three. Although Beth isn’t too big of a fan with her cousin and brother-in-law “knocking boots”, at least Kevin is fooling around with a girl and not a bottle of whiskey!

On top of Beth worrying about Zoe and Kevin, she has to keep a tight leash on Deja, her and Randall’s soon to be adopted daughter. Since Deja’s father is introduced right away in the season three premiere, you already know there is going to be more of a storyline with Deja’s past. This can cause some challenges for Beth and Randall, but with a little help from Oprah they should be just fine.

Last but certainly not least, Kate and Toby’s relationship will unfold throughout this season. As we know from season two, a baby would mean the world to them. After a previous miscarriage in season two, Kate is open to all options of having a baby. What she doesn’t know is that Toby flushed his antidepressant medication down the toilet so he has a better chance of producing more sperm for Kate. We will definitely see how Toby’s depression will unfold and how Kate is going to deal with it.

Well that’s a wrap of the lineup for season three of NBC’s This is Us. Be sure to tune in next week, Tuesday, October 2nd for episode two and don’t forget to stock up on the tissues!
