This was the episode I was waiting for most of my watch time. It’s the episode where evidence is put together and openly discussed to figure out what is happening within their local town and towns around them. In this episode it’s Holly Gibney’s time to shine and present to everyone all of the evidence she’s collected as well as how she’s come to this point of thought. Gibney collects her thoughts and rounds all of the detectives, wives, and lawyers involved in the case to hear what she has to say about who is causing all the trouble around them. And she knows it won’t be easy to convince them it’s possibly related to a supernatural creature called El Coco, or the Grief Eater, as we called it in the last article.

On her way to present the evidence she’s riding a bus back home when she begins to fall asleep. She starts to have a vision of another bus crashing into hers when she lunges towards the bus driver in a hurry. Only, there was no collision, and she just looked crazy. This is yet another example of the supernatural creature attempting to get into the minds of the investigators involved in the case.

Before the presentation of evidence starts, Jeanie heads to Glory’s house to invite her to the presentation in order to show her that the investigation is going places and answers are close to being had. Jeanie gets ahead of herself when she’s tempted to ask Glory’s daughter just exactly what she saw when the man visited her at night. Glory of course gets upset and asks her to leave but this evidence was imperative to get hands on. The man who constantly visited Glory’s daughter at night, visited Jeanie in her dining room, and talked to the car thief in Ohio was the same man.

As Gibney presents her evidence in front of the small crowd of investigators, she finds herself ambushed with anger and bitterness. Like I thought, no one believed her. Not only that but Glory, of course, gets extremely angry at Gibney and leaves the room. Ralph Anderson is upset that so much time has been wasted on the ‘boogie man’, and the only two people who even remotely believe her are Jack, who’s going through some sort of hell of his own, and Pelley, another investigator.

This episode was the one I was patiently waiting for. I wanted so badly for the evidence to be compiled together and for everyone to finally get a good sense of the weirdness that’s happening within the separate cases, but unfortunately no one is taking a bite. This particular episode was the stick that broke the camel’s back, or in other words, got the story on a roll.

It plays out to suspicion, partial agreement to give Gibney a chance, and one last weird moment with Jack. Jack begins to act weird, as though he’s being told by some invisible force that Gibney needs to be stopped. The investigation needs to be put to an end. And the place to start would be with Holly, because she’s the only one who seems to be on the creature’s tail at this point. So, the episode ends with Jack luring Gibney out to the old barn where ‘Terry Maitland’s’ clothing was found the day after the supposed murder had happened. Gibney knows something’s up with him, but only after she’s been in the car with him for too long. She notices his boiled neck, seemingly infected from the Grief Eater, and the episode ends with a long shot of the truck driving off into the distance. So as usual we’re stuck on the cliff hanger and that only leaves me thrilled for the next one.
