How I came up with my Halloween Costumes for This Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kutztown chapter.

Every halloween we ask ourselves, “What am I gonna be for halloween this year?” Sometimes we know who or what we wanna be months ahead of time, or even the day before. We either wanna be something simple like a witch, a princess, a pirate, or a pumpkin. Some of us really want to think thoroughly about who we want to be; something clever or something creative. I thought about my halloween costume and I thought of a great theme for halloween weekend which I am very excited about.

My one costume is going to be Evie from the Disney movie Descendants. Descendants is a Disney Channel movie and it is about kids of the Disney Villains. My character Evie is the daughter of The Evil Queen from Snow White. I got into Descendants in January, because I heard most of the music on tiktok. The songs were very catchy and I thought why not give this movie a try. I watched the movies in reverse order at the start h, I knew what most of the movies were about, and knew the storyline of each of them.

I love the soundtracks to most of the movies. My favorite movie out of the series would have to be the second one. The second movie in my opinion has a better plot and the soundtrack is better in this movie. For her costume I decided to make my own costume with just blue, black and red colors. I went to a thrift store and bought a cute black and blue skirt that would suit Evie. She mostly wears blue and black with a hint of red. Her character is all about fashion and looking good and that is what makes me excited about her character.

I wanted to have a second costume in mind. I thought to myself who else should I be for halloween? As I mentioned, Evie is the daughter of The Evil Queen from Snow White. I said, why don’t I have a theme for halloween; Good vs. Evil? I decided to be Snow White herself and just create my own costume. Snow White is very soft and pure and wishes peace and love with everyone. I thought she would be perfect for me. Instead of buying the actual costume of Snow White, I decided to buy a yellow skirt, blue shirt, some jewels, and a red headband. I feel as if creating my own costumes gives it more creativity and makes it fun.

I am an artist who uses art to express myself. My life quote is “stay positive”. My goal is to make a positive influence in people’s lives.
