Candles? We don’t know them. Essential oils have taken the place of candles recently and I’m here for it. Ever since I decided to make the switch, I’ve never looked back. Essential oils are great after a long day of classwork when you’re ready to just unwind or even when you just want to sit and smell something lovely. What I love most about them is that it seems like there’s oils for every mood. Here are 5 of my favorites!

Lavender

This oil is the most popular, not to mention it’s great floral and fresh aroma. It is said to relieve anxiety and to calm and relax the mind. It can also be used to help with restlessness and insomnia. This is my most used oil because I always reach for it in times of stress, which is often for me.

Peppermint

This peppermint scented oil has several health benefits such as killing germs, relieving pain, and even to help the body eliminate mucus. Not only is it good for your overall physical body, but the fresh and minty scent is great for the holidays to fill your space with the peppermint smell.

Orange

Similar to lavender, orange scented oils are great to use when you need to ease stress, anxiety, and depression. Orange scented oils are also good for when you exercise. It is said to enhance your performance and get your mind ready for a workout. Therefore, this scent is great for daily use because it has a sweet, fruity, and uplifting scent that will always boost your mood.

Lemongrass

This fresh and clean smelling oil works great when sick. This scent is used to ease stomach pain, and to fight bacteria. Using this scent is great for a time when you’re sick in bed and you just want something fresh to ease pain and lift your mood.

Ginger

Just like lemongrass can help when you’re sick, so can ginger if you want a different kind of scent that will give the same benefits as the lemongrass scent. Ginger is warm and spicy, but just like lemongrass it can be used to treat nausea, colds, and even migraines.

Essential oils are great to use for any mood. All 5 of these oils have great health benefits that will sooth your mind and even reduce physical pain. Having an oil diffuser by my desk has been really great when I need something to wake me up in the morning, or winding down for the night. Having it there really reduces my stress, but also helps to create an enjoyable work space for when I need to get things done! Make sure you are using good oils though, check those ingredient lists, and explore because there is an oil for everyone.
