3 Types Halloween Costumes You Can Make Out of Your Closet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kutztown chapter.

Making the decision of what to be for Halloween can be a very daunting task, and before you know it, it is the weekend of, and you have nothing to wear. Luckily, there are so many costume options that can be made right out of the clothes from your closet.

1.   Any character from The Office

The beauty of The Office is that the characters are so incredibly normal, and their clothes match them. Wear a blouse and cardigan combo and pull the top part of your hair back with a clip; you are Pam Beasley. Wear a grey suit with a mustard shirt and pair of glasses, and style a greasy middle hair part; you are Dwight Schrute. These characters are easily recognizable, fun, and definitely the life of the party. Most of the articles of clothing you would need can be found in your closet, and if not, your parents’ closet. What’s the best part about it? There are so many characters that your group of friends could get together and do one giant “couple’s costume.”

2.   Iconic Historical Figures

It might sound really boring at first, but who doesn’t love Abraham Lincoln? All you need is the facial hair and top hat to seal the deal, and everyone will want to try it on. Throw on your grandpa’s clothes, frizz out your hair, and you become Albert Einstein. Everyone wants to party with a crazy, old professor. All the trick-or-treaters will want a photo with George Washington to show their teacher the next day. He might be a little hard to achieve, but a white turtle-neck and a black overcoat should do the trick. You might just end up looking like any founding father, but hey, that works too.

3.   Twilight Characters

If you keep up with pop culture, you may have heard that this year is the tenth anniversary of the first Twilight movie. With all jokes about the movie aside, dressing as some of the characters actually make for a great Halloween costume. They are really easy to accomplish. For the most part, they wear normal, everyday clothes. Selling the characters will come from making sure you look pale enough, if you are going for one of the vampires, or having the werewolf tattoo. Also, acting out their mannerisms and iconic lines all night will not only make the costume super believable, but it will also be fun and entertaining. Edward and Bella would be a great couple’s costume.
