Everyone loves a good scare, right? Well, maybe not everyone. But if you’re like me and you enjoy being thoroughly freaked out, then there are a few places you should definitely visit this Halloween season.

Field of Screams

Located in Lancaster, Field of Screams has always been a favorite of mine. Not only do they have multiple attractions to walk through, but they also have a haunted hayride that features spooky actors and frequent stops that will put you right in the middle of the action. They have everything from chainsaws to masked pig men. Besides the hayride, there are three other walk-through attractions that are just as equally spooky. These include Den of Darkness, Frightmare Asylum, and the Nocturnal Wasteland. Each has a different type of spooky to offer, and all of them are amazing.

Pennhurst Haunted Asylum

Though I personally have never been, but numerous people have told me this place is worth seeing. Pennhurst Asylum was once a thriving school and hospital for the mentally ill. They closed their doors in 1987, and after twenty-five years of abandonment, it has been reopened to the public. This place offers multiple attractions on the grounds of the old hospital in multiple different buildings, such as the Containment area, the Morgue, and the Mayflower After Dark. They also offer investigation tours and haunted walk-throughs of the original Asylum.

Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary has been on my go-to list for years. Located in Philadelphia, this prison is worth the drive and money. It once housed some of the most vicious criminals, but it is now named “perfect for Halloween” by the New York Times and houses some of the scariest spooks. The penitentiary has been the destination of TV productions like Ghost Adventures, and has been aired multiple times on the Travel Channel. When the original prison was still open, prisoners were said to have complained of various spiritual happenings. Visitors are able to sense the presence of spirits to this day, or so they say. Find out for yourself in one of their six haunted attractions!
