My birthday is today as I am writing this article on the early hours of February 4th. Whenever your friend, family member, lover, etc. has a birthday, you should try to do and give things to them that make them feel special and appreciated on their day. There’s many ideas you can do for their birthday, no matter the season.

10. Take them to their favorite restaurant

One of my favorite things to do in general is go somewhere I like to eat, so it’s a good idea to take them somewhere they will enjoy very much whether that’s for lunch or dinner. On my birthday this year, one of the things I get to do is to go to Outback Steakhouse with my uncle, and I get to order my favorite meal which is the restaurant’s Alice Springs Chicken. Eating a good meal with loved ones is a great way to spend a birthday.

9. Go create something with them

Something I enjoy doing is every once in a while going to my town’s local pottery shop, and painting my own piece of pottery. This could be a fun idea to do on someone’s birthday, as it is something you can both make together, as well as have a fun and relaxing time painting. This also gives them something to remember that day with.

8. Watch a show with them or see a movie.

Sometimes your friend might really want to start binging a new series, or to go see a movie in the middle of the day that they’ve been hyped to go see for a while. It could be a fun idea to go to the movies together and have both of your favorite movie theater snacks, like popcorn or a milkshake. A television show can also be an even better idea as it’s even more experience friendly to be able to comment freely on the show together.

7. Send them a personalized message from their favorite celebrity

I’ve never had this done for me, but some people might enjoy a birthday message through a cameo by famous people they enjoy watching. This could make them feel a little special even if they know it was paid for as a service.

6. Have a party for them

This could be a really exciting idea whether you decide to surprise them with the party or not. A party can have your loved one celebrating their birthday with all their favorite people around them. The party can be a special moment where a lot of good memories are made.

5. Write them something special.

Sometimes people just wish to feel praised in their lives, or want people to notice and appreciate them. A great thing you can do for your loved one’s birthday is to write them a poem, or a handwritten note, in order to make them feel special. It doesn’t have to be a perfect note or poem, and it is a free gift to give.

4. Give them something to look forward to.

A great time to announce you bought concert tickets to go with them to in the future is on their birthday. This could be a fun surprise that lets them become excited for what is about to come in their next year of life.

3. Give them something they’ve really been wanting physically.

Of course, this is a basic and easy response to someone’s birthday coming up is to give them something they’ve been dreaming to have, whether that’s a video game console or a camera. Of course, if you can’t afford this option your friend would still love you and appreciate what you do for their birthday, but you can’t go wrong with  getting an item off their wish list.

2. Give them a hug.

This is a free and easy way to show someone you care for them, and a simple interaction. A good hug can encourage someone to feel loved and make them feel happy, cake or no cake.

1. Let them pick the day

If you don’t know what you wish to give or do with them, it’s not any less special if your friend with the birthday is in control of their day. After all, it’s their day! They want to do what they want. Ask them a week or two before what they might want to do, and you can do it with them.
