Throwback tours: Never Shout Never, JoJo, and Mayday Parade

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

2017 is, among other things, the year of throwback tours. Many former emo kids rejoiced when Never Shout Never recently announced their throwback tour, but they’re not the only ones making our middle school selves rejoice: JoJo and Mayday Parade are also hitting the road this year in an ode to our youth. Here’s the info all upcoming shows.

Never Shout Never

Never Shout Never was a favorite among 12-year-old emos, but has faded from public view the last few years. However, a recent tweet from the band’s official Twitter confirmed that they are emarking on a “Throwback Tour,” which will include performances of The Yippee EP (2008) and Me And My Uke (2009). Even better is that the band is coming right to our very own Granada on Mar. 28. Tickets are $20 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

JoJo

Everyone’s 10-year-old self was a big JoJo fan (or was that just me?), but record label drama prevented her from releasing music for years. She made a comeback with the release of her 2016 album “Mad Love” and is currently on tour promoting the album. She was set to perform in Lawrence on Mar. 3, but had to cancel due to an ongoing battle with laryngitis. However, the show was rescheduled, and will now take place on May 26 at Liberty Hall. Tickets are $24 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Mayday Parade

Mayday Parade recently announced their 10-year anniversary tour, “A Lesson in Romantics,” which will be a celebratory decennial of their debut record of the same name. Guitarist Brooks Betts said of the tour, “We want to reminisce on the memory with our fans, especially with those who have been with us for so many years.” The band will be coming to The Granada in Lawrence on Apr. 23. Tickets are $25 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
