Things You Can Get Away With While On Your Period

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

1. Eating whatever you want.

During shark week, all junk food is justifiable. Your body is literally shedding the lining of your uterus, so your deserve to reward yourself for all the hard work. Also, chocolate just tastes better on your period.

2. Being lazy.

Who gives a hoot if you stay in your bed all day? Being on your period is a perfect excuse to relax and watch TV for hours on end. It’s normal to feel unmotivated and lazy. If it makes you feel better, you can remind yourself that it only comes around once a month so it’s nice to give your mind and body a break.

3. Crying at all times.

It’s okay to cry when you drop your coffee. It’s okay to cry because it’s too cold outside. And it’s okay to cry when you see a baby pet a puppy. You know why? Because you are hormonal and you deserve to let it all out.

4. Wearing sweatpants everyday for a week.

No one wants to squeeze into high-waisted jeans on their period. The confining bloatedness and painful cramps are SO real during menstruation. Even the thought of having to suck-in all day is unbearable. That being said, sweatpants are the move; they’re the most comfortable, most practical, and most enjoyable way to cope with your body beating you up from the inside out.

5. Being sassy.

Not that you should be sassy in the first place, but it is definitely more dismissible when you’re on your period. Think about these two apologies: “Sorry, I was such a bitch” or “Sorry, I was such a bitch. I was on my period and totally over-emotional.” You hear the last one and think, oh I get it, she was just on her period.
