It has been a full two (almost three) weeks since Spring Break ended, and somehow I am still stuck in the pre-Spring Break attitude. All I want is some R&R and to get outta class! So far, this mindset has gotten me basically nowhere, and I know I can’t be the only one who is ready for summer. So, to stay off the struggle bus and make it to that last day of finals, here are some tips to finish your semester with a BANG (and quite possibly, all A’s).

Write in your calendar

I feel like everyone reading this is thinking, “Well, duh.” But for a lot of people, even avid schedulers, the time after spring break just isn’t the same. Make sure you have every assignment that’s due, every test, every meeting, everything written down all together where you can see it. Take one hour, go through your syllabi, and WRITE IT DOWN, because chances are without it, you’ll definitely forget something.

Learn to say no

To those people pleasers everywhere, you cannot do everything. As much as we want to believe that every week we can go to six club meetings/practices, work 10 hours, go to class 15 hours, help three of our friends with life crises, tutor that kid we hardly know in chemistry, do homework and study for our two tests, AND find time to sleep and eat. We are sorely mistaken. Unfortunately, we can’t join every club, or help everyone we know. Sometimes you just have to say NO.

Limit your Facebook/Twitter time

Do not have these tabs open while studying. If need be use Self Control to help keep these closed.

Take a couple hours a week to yourself

Or more. There’s no limit to the amount of time someone might need to just love on themselves. Do something you enjoy. Read a book. Take a walk. Bake. Watch TV. Ride your bike. Fly a kite. It doesn’t matter just do something so simple that will get your mind off the rest of your stress.

But don’t become a complete hermit

You need friends. Even if you don’t have time to go out, find time to see them. Ask them to come to the library, or grab a meal with them. They’ll understand that you’re busy, and should be glad you’re trying to reach out regardless.

Sleep

College is not about all-nighters. It may feel like you need to stay up until the birds are singing to complete a project, but make sure you get at least a few hours of sleep each night. You’ll feel a lot better, and the quality of your projects and interactions will be better too!

Hopefully these give you some ideas on how to finish off your semester without wanting to go hide in a hole! Have any tips or tricks you use to fight off the end of semester blues? Let us know in the comments section!
