Throughout the entire history of fashion, it has always revolved around trends. Although some trends have stuck around for a while to the point where they became universal, many of us have found ourselves purchasing an item of clothing or accessory that was trending at the time and then later wondering why we ever bought said piece in the first place. Although it is quite exhausting keeping up with fashion trends, they are exciting in the moment!
Within the recent months we have seen the trends of puffer jackets, Doc Martens platform boots and hair clips to name a few, but what should we expect in this upcoming spring? With the recent below freezing weather that hit the East coast, Midwest and even Southern states, I believe we all are sick of the cold weather and ready for warmer days. With that said, some fashion pieces I believe we could be seeing a lot of this upcoming spring are bell bottom pants, midi skirts and chunky platform block heel sock boots.
Bell bottom pants were very popular during the 1960s through the 70s. With the current trend of flare yoga pants, it’s not long before we start seeing mom jeans being replaced with bell bottoms. Although the idea of bell bottoms may seem a bit old school right now, every time a fashion piece comes back in style, it always has its own modern twist. I believe we will be seeing this style of pants on our Instagram feeds come spring time.
I realize midi skirts may not be the first thing people think of when it comes to trends, but with the recent modernization of this style of skirts and with spring upon us, we will be seeing these quite a bit. Midi skirts have been making a comeback with an obvious twist within the past year but haven’t blown up as we expected. Much of the new styles of midi skirts included hippie patterns and a more flowy fit, but recently we have been seeing midi skirts still being flowy but with a tighter fit and more modern patterns. I’m certain that the new adjustments made to this style of skirts will bring great success this time around!
Boots have been a huge deal, especially in the past year. Doc Marten platform boots have a long standing in shoe trends and I have recently noticed that Chelsea boots are starting to become trendy as well. The chunky platform block heel sock boots began appearing back in late 2020 but with cold weather amongst us, it did not give these shoes the time to shine. I do believe these boots have hope during the spring season as we will begin to start wearing shorter bottoms such as skirts and shorts and the “sock” part of these boots will be seen and more appealing to the eye!
To come to a conclusion, these are my personal predictions on fashion in the spring of 2021. I am quite excited to see if any of these will become trendy come spring time but I will also be on the lookout for the trends I didn’t predict! I am sure everyone who experienced the recent freezing weather is just as excited as I am for the spring and the ability to wear less layers!
