Ready for Love, Canceled?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

Dating shows, there’s “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” and  many more. But, those are the two most popular dating shows on today, with good reason. American women and men get to be on an unscripted reality television show with more than a dozen other hopefuls who want to find true love.

NBC’s “Ready for Love,” which is co-produced by Eva Longoria, and hosted by Guliana and Bill Rancic, was recently “canceled” due to low ratings. The dating show depicts modern dating strategies, and gives advice to both women and men. It is a bit cliché but nevertheless, entertaining. Everyone wants love, right?

So why not let us watch some people get happy, NBC?

WHY?

Tim Lopez, Ernesto Arguello and Ben Patton are hunky singles. Lopez is in the rock band “The Plain White T’s,” Patton is a CEO of a hospital and Arguello is an engineer and philanthropist.  They’re also, very attractive; but that’s a given right?

These three men are teamed up with three matchmakers to find the “love of their lives.” Sounds promising, but apparently not. Not only that, but the matchmakers give the girls and the men advice; the “Bachelor(ette)” doesn’t have that!

Just three episodes in and NBC decided to pull the show off the air and replace it’s time slot with Grimm, which just got moved to Friday’s after about three episodes into it’s second season.

It’s unclear whether NBC has officially canceled the show, considering we don’t know who they have picked to marry. However, speculation is that the remaining episodes will premiere online every week until the finale on June 4.

The episodes can be viewed on NBC.com, Hulu or VOD.

A for effort NBC but, please, for your next dating show, do not cancel it three episodes in. We need time to adjust.
