Ever since I was taught the 12 months of the year, it seems like September has always gotten a bad rap. Have you ever flipped to September in the calendar? The photo is never as cool as the other 11 months. Sure, it doesn’t have quite the selection of holidays as December, and competing with July is out of the question. If you haven’t noticed, people REALLY love ‘Merica.
So, in defense of this lovely month, I have created a little list of the reasons why I get excited about September. And no, it’s not just because it’s my birthday month. (September 6, by the way!)
- Pumpkin Spiced EVERYTHING is back!
Helllooooo. I could probably just end this list right here, because let’s be honest, this reason speaks for itself.
- Labor Day Weekend.
Did you like that long weekend right after the first week of classes? Thank September. I hope you enjoyed lounging, boating, eating and doing a whole lot of nothing that has to do with labor!
- Are you ready for some football?
Hot cocoa, hamburgers, scarves, face stickers — you name it, football season has it! Tailgating is well underway, and who can resist a mean game of bean bag toss?
- Beyoncé’s Birthday.
I will save reason #4 for Beyoncé. The Sasha Fierce was born on September 4, 1981. I don’t know about you, but I spent most of the day in a black leotard singing about how single I am. Happy Birthday, Bey!
- The leaves are changing, the leaves are changing!
Ahh…. red, orange, yellow and any combination of those colors just gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. And I have yet to meet someone who thought otherwise.
- It’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
“Like” BabyJay’s Legacy of Hope on Facebook to find out how you can help support the cause, and fight for a cure!
- Grandparent’s Day!
Typically celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day, this year, Grandparent’s Day was September 8. C’mon. Who doesn’t love grandparents?
- Sapphire Birthstone>>>>>
You can just ask the Duchess of Cambridge if she is very fond of her sapphire ring.
Or, me.
- You can start to wear layers!
Oh man, do I love me some layers. All summer long I impatiently wait for the day I can throw on a cardigan. In need of one? Come visit my closet, and I’ll hook you up.
See, September isn’t just about school and apples.
I wish all of you, beautiful collegiates, a wonderful remainder of September! Now, go stock up on that pumpkin spice!
