Most Underrated Met Gala Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

I think we can all agree that year after year, the Met Gala continues to provide the best entertainment when it comes to fashion. It’s always incredibly exciting to see who attends, what designer they are wearing, and what the critics are saying. However, I feel that this year almost everyone turned their attention to the same 10 people and many notable looks were left sitting in the dust. Here are a few looks that didn’t get the recognition they deserved.

  1. Lily Collins – I follow Lily Collins on Instagram, and my jaw DROPPED when I saw her Met Gala look this year. Lilly modeled a look inspired by Priscilla Presley with a ruffled Giambattista Valli dress, Cartier emerald jewelry, and an extravagant bouffant hairstyle. Her makeup was absolutely stunning, showcasing a vibrant bright purple eyeshadow, feline flicks, a light pink lip, and delicate beauty marks.

  2. Taylor Hill – Inspired by Old Hollywood glam, Taylor wore a strapless light pink Ralph Lauren dress accompanied by matching gloves, diamond accessories, and a feathered shawl. As for the hair, she kept it simple and classy with side swept curls.

  3. Deepika Padukone – Deepika looked like a Barbie princess with this underwater inspired dress. Her dress was designed by Zac Posen and 3D printed. More than 160 hours went into making the sea urchin decorations along the sides and back of the dress.

  4. Harry Styles – Do I even need to explain this one?

  5. Lili Reinhart – To this year’s Met Gala, Lili wore a powder blue ruffled romper with a long train. She tied the look together with a beautiful floral headpiece and a makeup look to match. Her boyfriend Cole Sprouse walked the carpet with her (and was definitely her cutest accessory).

  6. Jourdan Dunn – Zac Posen also designed this gorgeous 3D printed dress for Jourdan Dunn. She (literally) looked like a gorgeous, delicate flower at this year’s Met Gala, completing her look with sleek straight hair and matching pointed heels.
