Meet the Team: Lucie Krisman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

If you aren’t familiar with Her Campus at the University of Kansas, then you probably don’t know much about our team! In the “Meet the Team” series, I will be interviewing the girls on the exec. board, so you can get to know us better. It’s time to meet Lucie Krisman, our content editing executive, who is majoring in Journalism. Lucie is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and when asked how she chose KU she responded with, “It’s honestly hard to explain what made me choose KU, I knew immediately when I first visited but I didn’t really know why it felt like the perfect place to be until I actually started going to school here. The J-School (Journalism School) is remarkable and there’s such an innate sense of familiarity here even for people who haven’t been here long.”

Lucie has been a part of Her Campus for two years, and she says that she joined because she wanted a place to write about what she was passionate about. “Her Campus seemed like an amazing place to start! I love the platform that it provides for writers, I really feel like it’s a unique one. The club itself is such a cool environment too, everyone is so supportive of each other and I love that!”

Journalism is a popular major among many KU members, and Lucie says she chose journalism because “I think it’s absolutely crucial that everyone’s story gets to be told. I definitely don’t feel like it’s an easy major, but I love the push I get in all my journalism classes to do the best work I can. I know I picked the right major because the J-school classes make me so so excited to start my career!” Lucie’s biggest inspiration is her friends, and how they’re all following their dreams in different ways. In ten years she sees herself working for a major publication that she really respects. She adds, “I’d also love to live in a big city and hopefully be well traveled by then as well – I honestly want to see everywhere. I know that no matter what, I’ll still be writing!

If Lucie could say one thing to her younger self, it’s that “I know that everyone says that things seem to be monumental when you’re younger won’t matter later and that it’s hard to believe, but it’s SO SO true. If I could, I’d tell my younger self to just chill the heck out because better things are coming. I honestly had no idea.” You can follow Lucie’s work on Her Campus, and know that she’s the master editor behind every post.
