Why did you choose KU? I chose KU because I initially wanted to go into medicine. Even though that has since changed, I don’t regret my decision at all. It’s also a far enough distance from home to where I feel like I can really become independent, but not so far that I can’t make it home if I need to. Being a person of color, it was very important to me to go to a school that was very diverse. KU holds their multicultural views at a very high and objective standard, and that really solidified my choice in coming here.
What are some of your favorite hobbies? I love to run. Well, I don’t love to run, but I do it anyway. Because food. On a real note though, I love hanging out with my friends. I also really just love to chill and find new music to dance to. Dancing is my favorite.
What are some of your favorite foods? Cereal, because you can eat it at any time and it’s socially acceptable. Also, I can’t afford anything else. Thanks, college.
Speaking of affording things, you have an on-campus job, right? Yes, I actually have two jobs. I’m part of the Multicultural Recruitment Team under the Student Ambassador umbrella and am currently applying to be a Social Justice Peer Educator. I also have a job off campus working for General Dynamics Information Technology.
What did you want to be when you were growing up? I wanted to be a marine veterinarian and specialize in whales because whales are my spirit animals.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Somewhere close to the whales. Ideally, I would live on a nonexclusive island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that has all of the resources I need and the person I love.
What’s your idea of the perfect date? April 23. No, I’m kidding. Going to a lake that has a nice hiking trail is my favorite. I like to take a blanket sometimes and just lay on the ground and watch the sky and maybe pack a picnic. Always food. It’s not worth it if there’s not food.
