Before Netflix, Disney+, and iTunes, there was a time where the only way to watch Christmas movies was with a DVD player or Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas, which has aired on multiple channels since 1996. The special programming has gone through many hardships, and back in the day, It was a highlight fo the holiday season. Playing the best Christmas movies from day one all the way up until Christmas Day 25 Days of Christmas never disappointed fans.
Recently though, the lineup has been lackluster. This is due to several problems, which are not necessarily Freeform’s fault. However, I miss the endless days of holiday favorites that led up to the special movie on Christmas morning, so here I am reinventing my childhood. Sadly though, I am an adult now, so my opinion on the best Christmas movies has changed a bit.
In this mixture, you will find not only the most iconic Christmas films of all time but also my personal favorites. The ratings from this list range from G to R, so be vigilant if you plan on going through this list with little kids. I have personally omitted movies that were on the list that had absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, and I also arranged the movies in order so that it varies from a cheesy kids movie to a raging adult comedy. I saved the best for last and placed my favorite Christmas movie for Christmas Day. I also added a list of notable mentions at the bottom since these movies certainly deserve to be on the list but didn’t make the cut. Furthermore, I added the originally 25 Days of Christmas list at the bottom. And finally, I would like to state that Frozen is not a Christmas movie. Enjoy!
