Finals week is dreaded, obviously. It doesn’t have to be though. Take some preventive measures and make sure you sail through this week.
Music
It helps, whether how cliché it is or not. Listen to a bit of classical music from your personal music library or stream a station from Pandora.
There’s also this great website 8tracks that lets users create their own digital mixtapes configured to different moods or times. Plus, there are ones curated specifically for studying.
If you want something to study to with motivation that is also indie, well there’s some mixtapes for that. Like this one.
Organization
Getting organized seems like a logical step for studying for finals; however, it might be one of the most difficult to begin, because where exactly do you begin?
Should you start studying for your toughest final or the easiest? Prioritize how to study based of the difficulty and how prepared you are for each final.
However getting organized depends entirely on you. Find your groove and keep with it.
Necessities
Sometimes when we’re studying for finals we forget some of the necessities, like sleeping (not napping), eating meals or taking breaks. We need these, people.
Take a break to clear your head and eat something, no harm can come from treating yourself right. Take a look at this, it’s called the 30/30 work cycle.
You study or work for 30 minutes with no distractions, completely absorbed in your work, then you take a break for 30 minutes (say… on Her Campus Kansas). This allows the work you do to be more focused, it’s less stressful and you get to have fun.
Eat something healthy, constantly having late night pizza or Taco Bell or Ramen isn’t going to agree with you for very long. There are plenty of healthy frozen options to try or salads (they’re quick to make) and other healthy snack options such as fruit, veggies and trail mix.
Remember it’s finals week, treat yo self!
