As a woman on the go, I often don’t have time to sit down for a show or a movie. This means that podcasts have become my most frequently consumed type of media. I listen to podcasts while I drive, do laundry, get ready in the morning, cook meals, or clean my apartment. Depending on my mood they make me laugh, challenge the way I think, or provide healthy advice. I’ve found several podcasts that I feel speak to me most as a 20-something young woman and each serve a different purpose in my media roster.

  1. Binchtopia

My all-time favorite podcast is Binchtopia. Both chatty and informative, this podcast is laugh out loud funny but will also change the way you think of the world. Episode topics range from the history of eating disorders to TikTok momfluencers to mental health to reddit’s “Am I The Asshole?” thread.  The two hosts are in their early to mid 20s and have unmatched banter. The vibe of their podcast is similar to deep conversation with your besties about your favorite niche topics.

  1. The Daily

The Daily is my most reliable source for the news, politics, and current events. Each episode is a 30-45 minutes dive into a news story. The longer episode length allows the hosts and journalists to provide the history and background impacting current events. The Daily covers not only national events, but stories from across the world. They have ongoing content about the wars in Ukraine and Gaza with compelling narratives from journalists reporting on the ground. The Daily has a magical way of explaining complicated global issues in an easily digestible way.

  1. Girls Gotta Eat

I consider Girls Gotta Eat to be the healthy older sister to Call Her Daddy. Hosts Ashley and Rayna give wholesome advice about love, sex, and dating. They frequently interview experts, authors, and friends on these topics but also share their personal experiences from years of dating. They are funny, relatable, and empowering and encourage women to build a life they love. I’ve followed them for years and they’ve only gotten better with age. They’re lives are very Sex and the City-esque so they’ve got hilarious stories galore and lots of wisdom to give.

  1. How to Build a Happy Life

This podcast gives practical tips about how to navigate life as an adult. How do I cope with loneliness? How do I learn to talk to people? How do I connect to my neighbors? Listening to these types of episodes have shown me that I’m not alone in the difficulties of growing up. They have given me hope that I can make little changes in my life that will make a big difference and lead me to a life I’m proud of.

  1. You’re Wrong About

You’re Wrong About is a perfect mix of history and pop culture. This podcast covers a wide array of topics including cancel culture, celebrity scandals, true crime, and social justice. Host Sarah Marshall debunks myths of the popular imagination with her guests and looks at these topics through an intersectional lens.
