Halloween is right around the corner and it’s time to start picking the perfect costume. That said, the actual piece you wear isn’t always everything. Incorporating makeup/SFX makeup into any Halloween look is a way to step up your game. Here are some of my favorite tutorials that are (relatively) easy to follow and will make sure you win that costume contest!

1. Creepy Glam Clown

This look is relatively simple and has just the right balance of creepy and glam. In addition, you don’t need to do much with your outfit in order to match this look. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG.

2. Pop Art

Though there’s a wide variety of different pop art looks, this one is fairly simple to follow. In addition to this traditional look, lately pop art Wonder Woman has been a common tutorial to find. Watch the above picture’s tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpOxGp69shI.

3. Easy Glam Skull

A lot of skull looks can get really complicated really fast. This one leaves out a lot of the more difficult details and still looks amazing. Again, you don’t need to have an intense costume for this one, since the makeup does all the talking. Find the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxD9JeyM4Mw.

4. Scarecrow

This look is the best of both worlds: super cute and super easy. If you want an easier look, this one is perfect, and you can also work more with the wearable aspect of the costume. Watch the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgfxp6FMN00.

5. Fake Cuts

This might not necessarily be an entire Halloween costume look, but I think having a base knowledge in using SFX makeup to create fake cuts can open a lot of windows for other looks. This videos demonstrates 3 different ways to create these using different materials. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baXjKHL_Odw. **This channel is also one of my favorites for FX makeup.

6. Chelsea Smile

If you want to get a little more creepy, this look is an easier way to get your foot into the world of SFX makeup. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxJ9NfunmKA

7. Vampire

This look is a great middle ground for a creepy Halloween look. Though it looks awesome, no SFX makeup is required! Look for the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thLXAVBMmCU.

8. Sewed Shut Mouth

This look is a little more complicated, but the tutorial does a really great job of guiding the viewer through each step. If you want to up your creepy factor even more, then this is the look to do that. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH9UdJOwMkw.

9. Chucky

If a movie look is more your vibe, then you can look to the classic Chucky look with some SFX twists. Find the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEeDVWmgrcs.

10. Pennywise

Compared to a lot of other Pennywise looks, this one is much more simplified and easier to manage. Though it features colored contacts and a wig, this is definitely not needed to still have an awesome look. Find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xuH-Je6hvI.

11. Mermaid

I know this character has been a big trend for several years now, but it still looks super cool and you can make it your own. This tutorial helps to bring new elements to this classic look. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81xS1WPBkfY. If you want to create some cool scales too, watch this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndD9lXvWNH8

12. Coraline Jones

Coraline is a Halloween classic and this look is super creative and awesome if you’re up for a challenge. Watch the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FHpROUHoAs.
