Spring has officially sprung, and if you’re anything like me, your spring break plans consist of going back to your parents’ house and being in your hometown. However, that doesn’t mean your spring break has to be boring! Aside from catching up on sleep, meeting old friends, and seeing your family, here are 10 solo spring break activities you can do to have a restful, yet fun, break!
Reading
This spring break, we’re getting off our phones, and the easiest way to do that is with a good book! Some fun, engaging reads I can recommend are Yellowface by RF Kuang, The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn! These books are varied genres, from literary fiction to romance to contemporary. Go to your local library to find your next great read!
Spring crafts
A quick Pinterest search can give you lots of inspiration for a simple spring craft! Some ideas I loved are painting flower pots, making pipe cleaner flowers, and making paper flower chains! All of these are easy, cheap, and super fun to do with friends or alone! There are plenty of other ideas on Pinterest and Tiktok, so there’s definitely an option for everyone.
Declutter your phone
While I know I said we wanted to be off of our phones during break, an activity I CAN endorse is clearing out your phone. This includes deleting old photos (and those text screenshots), removing apps you don’t use, unfollowing people you don’t want to see anymore, organizing your playlists, and so much more. When you’re all done, you can find a cute new spring wallpaper and make your phone aesthetic as well, which is so much easier with IOS 26 for my fellow iPhone users! And you can also get a new phone case too!
Spring media
I love a good binge-watching session, and spring break is the perfect time to watch a new series, a few movies, or music albums! Spring reminds me of fairytales, princesses, and feel good moments. Some movie recommendations are Ella Enchanted, The Princess Bride, Matilda, The Princess Diaries, and The Sound of Music! A few shows people recommend include Anne with an E, Bridgerton, and The Great British Bake-Off. And finally, some great albums with spring vibes are Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour, Ariana Grande’s Yours Truly, beabadobee’s Beatopia, BTS’ Map of the Soul: Persona!
Farmers market run
Depending on your location, your local farmers and merchants might have started their markets recently. Farmers markets are a great way to find fresh foods while supporting local people/businesses, and everyone there is always so kind! Search online to see if there are any markets open in your area, and buy some fresh foods and flowers this break!
Spring Cleaning
What sort of spring break activities list would this be without spring cleaning?! If you’re like me, deep cleaning is your therapy, and you’re super excited to have a fresh start in your space. Take break as an opportunity to clean your apartment, dorm, or even just your bedroom. Spring cleaning is basically all of the standard cleaning you routinely do, but with a few extra seasonal cleaning things. Make sure to dust places you haven’t in a while, wash your rugs and curtains, clean your baseboards, vacuum underneath your furniture, and any other cleaning task you’ve been putting off. There’s great cleaning checklists on Pinterest, check those out for more ideas!
Closet Refresh
On the topic of cleaning, let’s talk about a closet refresh! Spring is the perfect time to go through your clothing to switch seasonal pieces out and get rid of items you no longer fit or like. During break, I plan on taking all of my heavy winter clothing back to my parents’ house and bringing back more layering tops and lighter materials, along with a few dresses and skirts! And with all of the clothes I don’t want anymore, I’m going to make a Plato’s Closet run or donate them! If you’re skilled with a sewing machine, you can also take break as a chance to alter items or upcycle some of your clothes, I know I’m going to alter a few dresses this week!
Build your own bouquet
In my hometown and at my college town, there are flower shops that offer chances for customers to build their own flower bouquets, and it’s so cute! Having a fresh bouquet is the best way to usher in the new season, and it’s even more fun if you design the arrangement yourself. You can keep your bouquet for yourself, or gift them to loved ones! Search online (especially Instagram and Facebook) to find places around you that have build your own bouquet opportunities, and if you can’t find any, you can simply find flowers that grow naturally outside! A little dandelion or daisy bouquet is just as adorable!
Going Outdoors
Spring is the perfect time to start getting outside again! I remember the first sunny day a few weeks ago, all the girls were out tanning and doing their “hot girl walks” with fun drinks in hand, it was amazing! Take break as a chance to put on a cute workout set, grab a nice drink, and explore new trails or just take a walk around your neighborhood!
Trying spring foods
My last recommendation is to try spring themed food! Many coffee shops have St. Patrick’s Day or floral themed drinks and goodies. 7Brew has the new Lucky 7, Dutch Bros has the Poppin’ Boba Hyperchrome, and Starbucks has the Pink Cannonball Drink, just to give you a few ideas. You can also try baking your own spring sweets, like rice krispie treats, lemon poppyseed cookies, or strawberry lemon blondies! The possibilities are endless!
I hope this list gave you some ideas and inspiration for your spring break! Not everyone needs to have an extravagant trip overseas to have fun, or even do activities with friends. Try some of these ideas, and make sure to rest up and have fun!
