The snow outside is piling up and the cold has made it increasingly hard to roll out of bed in time for your 9:10. As you shuffle through the snow on your way across campus, the urge for coffee can sometimes be overwhelming. Warm and caffeinated– what could be better on a dreary morning? And when watered-down Peirce coffee just doesn’t do it for you, there’s only one logical place to go: Wiggin Street Coffee . Located right between North and South campus, it’s quite literally the middle ground of Kenyon, and has plenty of options for your every caffeine need. But have you ever wondered what your preferred drink says about you?

Black CoffeeYour view of the world is dreary. Life is nothing but an abyss. Ok maybe not quite, but broodiness aside, you drink coffee for the taste and the experience,  not just for the caffeine kick  (well, what did you expect? You do go to Kenyon, after all
). You don’t enjoy artificial tastes – or people – and honesty is one of your best qualities.

Frozen/Iced LatteYou’re a chill (ha!) person who likes to keep things simple. Drama really isn’t your thing. You know what else isn’t your ‘thing’? Getting your tongue burned from consuming scalding coffee. Also, if you keep drinking this during the winter then you’re probably incredibly stubborn. Have fun in the below zero February weather with your Iced Chai!

Hot ChocolateOkay, so this one isn’t necessarily caffeinated, but it’s still really warm and it tends to be a favorite during the snowy season. Drinking hot chocolate shows that you find comfort in the things you know best, and sometimes you find it hard to adapt to change. But you also might just be a normal human being…who doesn’t like chocolate?

Chai Tea LatteYou want the best of both worlds: tea with latte fixings You enjoy the mellowness of the steamed milk and cinnamon sprinkle partnered with the zing of the chai. You have a reserved personality on the outside but you’re much more complex than you may appear on first glance, especially if you trust people and let them in to find out what you’re really like.

The Specials (Gingerbread Latte, Pumpkin White Mocha, Eggnog Latte, Honey Mocha, etc.)You’re intrigued by new ideas and have a mild sense of adventure. You’re not afraid to take people’s advice and take risks, even if it costs you a few extra dollars.

Seriously though, all of these drinks are absolutely delicious, no matter which one’s your favorite. At the end of the day what Wiggins Street Coffee says about us is that we’re all Kenyon students just trying to make it through the chilly Arctic Freeze and get to our classes.

Ally Bruschi is a senior political science major at Kenyon College. She spent this past summer interning as a writer with both The Daily Meal, a digital media group  dedicated to "all things food and drink" and The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that partners with U.S. policymakers to alleviate global poverty. Before entering the "real world" of jobs, however, Ally spent many summers as a counselor at an all-girls summer camp in Vermont, aka the most wonderful place on earth. A good book, a jar of peanut butter, a well-crafted Spotify playlist, and a lazy dog could get her through even the worst of days.
