As avid Taylor Swift fans, we’ve noticed that over the course of her career, Tay-Tay tends to repeat several key phrases throughout her body of work. Rumor has it that when she’s writing her songs, T-Swizzle has resorted to simply filling an antique teapot with such phrases (written in calligraphy on Kate Spade stationery, of course), giving it a swirl, and going with whatever comes out the spout. However, we at Her Campus Kenyon have a more structured approach to songwriting. We have assembled an easy-fill-in-the-Blank-Space guide to becoming the next golden-haired songbird and aspiring real-estate mogul.

Our __(Emotion)__Story

Do you remember that time when we were ___(age)_____?

Stayin’ out late to ___(rural activity)____ on your farm

Until the ____(celestial body)___ came out and you looked at me

You said I was your ___(royal title)___, your forever good-luck charm

Chorus:

But now everything is ___(type of fruit)__-red lips

Bright lights, cute boys, tight little _____(plural item of clothing)___

Then it’s 2 a.m. and the ____(another celestial body)___ is eclipsed

The sky lights up, but in my _____(internal organ)____ it’s a perfect storm.

What happened to our fairytale, kissing in the ____(bad weather)____?

You tried to wipe my mascara tears away with your prom__(royal title)__ sash

but __(Southern diminutive for “mother”)__ said “it’s late”

And it all went down in ___(feature of Hell)___ as my hopes turned to ash.

[Chorus x2]

[Dance break x4]

Bridge

AlI I have are dreams, all your ___(lover’s mementos)___s are in the dirt

Inside this __(medieval architecture)__, I’m all alone,

Maybe you didn’t realize how much my __(internal organ)__hurts

Some __(day of the week)__s I wish you would call, just pick up the phone

[Chorus]

Do you remember that time when we were ___(age)_____?

Stayin’ out late to ___(rural activity)____ on your farm…

[Fade out]

Rekha is a senior English and Film double major who breaks out in stress hives at the prospect of graduating. While abroad at Exeter, she was a huge fan of clotted cream, Topshop, and the sheep that hang out on the sides of roads; now that she's back at Kenyon, she is a fan of roaming the library sans shoes and eating Doritos too loudly on the third floor.
Abigail Roberts is a senior English/Creative Writing major at Kenyon College. When she's not writing, she's wasting away on Netflix, voting, or being weird about Victorian literature.
