Following Family Weekend, we Kenyon students still must trudge through midterms. With that comes the mountain of stress that always occurs when exams, papers, projects, events, and activities all pile up in just a couple weeks of madness.
As I was walking along on one of my busiest Thursdays yet this year, I began to contemplate what it would feel like to be able to sit and watch Youtube videos without the guilt (and stress) of knowing what I needed to do so that I could sleep that night. I wish that feeling came naturally, but instead, I formed this playlist of some of my songs for calming down with a cup of mint tea and a cookie at the end of a long day of studying:
1. Shorty Don’t Wait by A Great Big World
2. Nights Become Days by Frank Turner
5. Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons
6. Love of an Orchestra by Noah and the Whale
7. Coronation Day from the Frozen score
8. Flowers in Your Hair by The Lumineers
9. Greatest Change from the Legend of Korra score
10. Tap at my Window by Laura Marling
11. Into the Open Air from the Brave score
12. Not With Haste by Mumford and Sons
13. There is an Answer by A Great Big World
14. The Song of Purple Summer as performed by the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening
15. Hedwig’s Theme from the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone score
Because all good playlists end with Hedwig’s Theme, right? I hope this list brings you the solace and tranquility that it brings me. Happy studying, my friends!
