Preparing for Summer Sendoff 2014: A Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Aside from Shock Your Mom, Send-off is the most hyped social event of the year. As two freshmen, we don’t really know what to expect. But just like all the other events throughout the year, we have a pretty good idea of what’s to come from what upperclassmen have said (and not said). So, we put together a playlist to hit on every moment of Summer Send-off 2014. (And, even if you aren’t planning on partaking in all of the madness of Send-Off festivities, this is still a sweet playlist.)

1. Waking Up and Realizing It’s Send-off: Good as New by Vacationer

2. Getting Dressed and excited: Weekend by the Smith Westerns

3. First Shot, Before Going to Class: Tucan by Kids of 88

4. Morning Buzz: Bring You Down by Flume feat. George Maple

5. Second Shot, After Going to Class: Happy as F*ck by Mod Sun

6. Drunk Peirce: Diet Mountain Dew by Lana Del Ray

7. Trying to Speak Coherently to People on Middle Path: Am/Fm Sound by Matt & Kim

8. Seeing Someone You Don’t Like at Send-Off: You (Ha Ha Ha) by Charlii XCX

9. Getting Pumped for Sendoff: Changing of the Seasons by Two Door Cinema Club

10. The Dance Floor: Beta Love by Ra Ra Riot

11. Going to Sleigh Bells Concert: Run the Heart by Sleigh Bells

12. The Day is Ending, You Want to Quit, But the Party Don’t Stop: Don’t Let Me Down by Gramatik remixed with the Beatles

13. After Another Drink, You’re Ready to Keep Going: My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark by Fall Out Boy

14. You’re Starting to Feel Re-energized!: Feel That by NEUS

15. …But Now You’re Winding Down: Three Little Birds by Bob Marley

16. Finally Going to Sleep: Angels by The XX

17. Waking Up After Send-Off Shenanigans: L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. by Noah and the Whale

On that note, happy Send-Off to all! (And hydrate responsibly.)

Ally Bruschi is a senior political science major at Kenyon College. She spent this past summer interning as a writer with both The Daily Meal, a digital media group  dedicated to "all things food and drink" and The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that partners with U.S. policymakers to alleviate global poverty. Before entering the "real world" of jobs, however, Ally spent many summers as a counselor at an all-girls summer camp in Vermont, aka the most wonderful place on earth. A good book, a jar of peanut butter, a well-crafted Spotify playlist, and a lazy dog could get her through even the worst of days.
