Mentally Prepping for Second Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Okay, so I know that I’m not the only one who is low key excited for second semester, but also high key nervous for what is to come. My courses were scheduled, my supplies purchased, and my clothes were packed and ready to head back to Kenyon with me. I was completely physically prepared for the upcoming semester, but mentally, I wasn’t quite there. So, in order to get my head in the game for my spring classes, I’ve been preparing a vision board for myself.

A vision board is essentially a collection of quotes and pictures that represent your goals and plans for the future. It’s meant to be a physical representation of what you want, and it’s a way to keep you focused on those things. They can be as simple as ripping some pictures out of a magazine and slapping them onto a piece of paper, or they can be more thought out, using pinterest, magazines, and other online resources. Interested? I’ve been putting together some inspiring quotes that I plan to use as a part of my vision board, and here are some of my favorites: I love this because it’s a simple, yet necessary reminder that each day is a new day, and each day can and WILL be better than the last. We’re young, and life has so much more to show us!

What more even needs to be said? Many of us could put a little more work into showing ourselves some love, and much of our confidence and power comes first from loving ourselves. So, this semester I will work harder to love myself because each and every one of us is one of a kind and wonderful.

I need this one because I know that when I get back from spring break, the thoughts of summer will be frequent. It’s important not only to start the semester strong, but to finish it with gusto as well.

As someone who suffers from anxiety and many anxious thoughts, I find this quote to be incredibly powerful. It can be easy to get bogged down by all of the little things that are going wrong, but sometimes we just need to sit back and remember that we can handle anything that life throws at us.

Okay, call me a nerd. I’m a chemist, and I freaking love this. More importantly, this quote it good because it’s another reminder that your attitude is important. I’m a strong believer that a positive attitude can get me just about anywhere in this world, and if it takes a proton to remind me of that, I’m okay with that.

Along the same lines as the previous quote, our attitudes speak volumes about who we are as people, and not only that, but they influence people around me. This semester I am making an effort to put my positive attitude at the forefront of my life.

Beyoncé is a QUEEN. I love the simplicity of this, and I also just love how it simplifies things. All you need to do is Wake up, pray, and freakin’ slay!

With a little preparation, we can all take this semester head on. We got this, bitches!
