Just In Case You Need A Little Help: A Recap of Sunday Night’s Football Games

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Wondering why your man was too busy to hang out on Sunday afternoon? Well, he was probably watching football with the guys. Here is a quick recap of the events so you don’t feel totally lost when your boyfriend is talking about the big games. Sunday afternoon and into the evening two playoff games were played to determine the match up in the 47th Super Bowl. On February 3rd the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens will match up to determine the winner of the Super Bowl.

Recapping the events of last night, the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens played at 6:30 PM to determine the AFC (American Football Conference) Champions. The final score was 28-13 with the Ravens coming out on top. While the Patriots were defeated, Tom Brady, the quarterback (or, Gisele’s husband), set an all time record for most passing yards in the post season.  Joe Flacco, the Ravens quarterback, had a total of 8 touchdowns in the playoffs.

Yesterday at 3 PM EST two of the best teams in the NFL were pitted against each other. The 49ers who finished the season with a (12-4-1) record defeated the Falcons who had a regular season record of 14-3. The 49ers were lead by QB1 Colin Kaepernick and the falcons went out strong lead by Matt Ryan. The notable 49ers offense was clearly unstoppable. Kaepernick and Frank Gore led his team back from a 17-0 deficit early on in the game. This is the first time the 49ers will be in the Super Bowl since 1995.

Needless to say, Super Bowl 47 should be an exciting one. Not only will San Francisco be looking to join Pittsburgh as the only team with six Lombardi trophies, but the coach of the two teams are brothers.  Ladies, a warning: you should anticipate a preoccupied boyfriend on February 3rd.
