Classic Christmas Song Remakes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

As the large chunks of slushy snow along Middle Path seem to indicate, the holiday season is finally upon us here at Kenyon! Even though most of us are super busy studying for finals, who says we can’t enjoy some wintry songs to go along with all the stress? However, most of the classic Christmas songs played in the shopping malls at this time of year were written before we were born – so how about a Christmas song remake list to spice things up?

1.     The Maine: “Last Christmas”

2.     The Ready Set: “Wonderful Christmastime”

3.     Christina Aguilera: “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”

4.     My Chemical Romance: “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

5.     Lady Antebellum: “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”

6.     Colbie Caillat & Gavin DeGraw: “Baby It’s Cold Outside”

7.     Kylie Minogue: “Santa Baby”

8.     Christina Perri: “Merry Xmas [War is Over]”

9.     Paul McCartney: “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)”

10.  …and, to top off the list, the entire Michael Bublé Christmas album. Because you can’t pick just one.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Ally Bruschi is a senior political science major at Kenyon College. She spent this past summer interning as a writer with both The Daily Meal, a digital media group  dedicated to "all things food and drink" and The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that partners with U.S. policymakers to alleviate global poverty. Before entering the "real world" of jobs, however, Ally spent many summers as a counselor at an all-girls summer camp in Vermont, aka the most wonderful place on earth. A good book, a jar of peanut butter, a well-crafted Spotify playlist, and a lazy dog could get her through even the worst of days.
