Name: Emory O’Dell
Age: 22
Year: I’ve been a freshman at heart since fall 2010
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York because its chill and Washington D.C because its Chocolate City.
Major: American Studies, but when I apply for a job I’ll be calling it “American History” (Apparently what you call it can make a difference)
1) What are your favorite things to do on campus in your free time?
- Tuesday Peirce: all you need is a solid group of homies and the finest box of Red Blush Zinfandel that your local market can offer.
- Making rounds in Olin: even when I’m on my “free time” I don’t feel comfortable in my own skin if I don’t spend at least an hour minimum walking around the library seeking out friends
- If I wasn’t a senior and didn’t need to graduate I would spend more time on the rugby pitch, or sinking deep into an afternoon nap in Peirce pub.
- Spending time with my fraternity (Delta Kappa Epsilon) brothers
- Sitting on Big Joe (the chair in my room) just thinking deep thoughts, ya know?
2) What is on your Kenyon Bucket List?
Truthfully, only two things: throwing a rager in the cornfields and going cow tipping. I would like to spend more time experiencing the weird ins-and-outs of the BFEC with my friends…it seems like something everyone else has really taken advantage of while being at Kenyon. I have FOMO (fear of missing out) so I gotta make it happen.
3) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
As the owner of the Cove.
4) What would be the title of your autobiography?
“College My Way.”
5) If you could pick anywhere in the world to travel, where would you go and why?
The Cape Verde Islands, just because.
6) Top 3 CDs or musical artists?
I really enjoy country and ratchet music. Some personal favorite artists are Meek Mills, Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Carlos Santana.
7) Favorite book or author?
Papillon by Henri Charriere for book, and then Junot Diaz as my favorite author fosho
8) Favorite movie?
Raising Victor Vargas and Alf.
9) What’s your most impressive Peirce meal creation?
Personally, I just like to improve the Peirce chili by heading to the salad bar and throwing in some black beans, a ton of shredded sharp cheddar, and some more beans (preferably kidney beans when they have them.)
Well, there you have it folks, the famous Emory O’Dell in all of his glory.
