When we’re at home spending a relaxing Saturday morning in front of the TV, we sometimes have a child-like inclination to want to watch cartoons. Or, at least, I do. It can be disheartening, however, to flip through channels and see countless shows that, as mature adults, we don’t recognize. It’s easy to scoff at the seemingly sad state of children’s shows and think back to the good old days. When we were kids, all of the shows were of superior quality compared to what’s currently on TV. Right? Well, not completely. There are some pretty great shows currently on TV, and here’s a list of six that are worth indulging in on your Saturday morning:
1. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (If you doubt the quality of this show, check out this article.)
2. Legend of Korra (There is major girl power in this show, in addition to great action scenes and a complex, well-developed plot. What more could you ask for?)
3. Phineas and Ferb (An extremely clever show with catchy musical numbers.)
4. Avengers Assemble (It’s a general rule of thumb that anything that has to do with superheroes is good. This is no exception.)
5. Sophia the First (An adorable show about a girl, Sophia, who becomes a princess when her mom marries the king. Sophia learns how to be a princess and learns about life as she grows up in her new environment. The best part is that classic Disney princesses such as Cinderella and Belle make special guest appearances!)
6. Adventure Time (I’ve saved the best for last. This is by far the most progressive children’s TV show ever created. And not only does it teach great lessons, but it is also hilarious.)
