10 Halloween Makeup Looks

Kenyon College may be one of the most appropriate places to celebrate Halloween. We Kenyon students live on one of the most haunted college campuses of America.

Think about all the ghosts rumored to make appearances in various buildings (especially in Caples and Old Kenyon thanks to some unfortunate aspects of the dormitories’ histories). Also recall that we walk through the “Gates of Hell” on a daily basis as part of our walking-to-class routine. Finally, during my first week at Kenyon, I heard a story about a bishop had once refused to leave his car to step foot on campus because of all the unrequited souls that inhabit the Hill.

So, I guess you can say the ‘Bier is pretty spooky.  And in true haunted college campus fashion, you can expect students to go all out in honor of the scariest day of the year. Here are a few suggestions for crazy, cute, and downright freaky Halloween make-up looks for this upcoming weekend.

  1. Corpse bride: This is a great look if you want to find your future Kenyon-married partner.

  2. Galaxy maiden: Doing your makeup this way will make sure that your night is going to be out of this world

  3. Broken doll: Feel free to destroy some beloved childhood memories

  4. Pop-art zombie: Channel your inner horror geek with this comic book-inspired look

  5. Infected: If you’re not a fan of the full zombie look, you can always spook your friends in a World War Z style by looking like you have a scary disease. Be warned: they may just think you’ve caught the Kenyon Krud.

  6. Fawn makeup: Tired of the clichĂ© bunny costumes? Why not try out a Bambi look for once, instead? This one’s a little less creepy. 

  7. Queen of the Nile: Channel your inner Egyptian goddess with this golden look.

  8. Undead gangster: Half zombie, half mob leader. What could be better?

  9. Two faced: This one’s too good (and freaky) not to include. This makeup will definitely have people doing double takes all night

  10. Grumpy cat: Not feeling too spooky? Go as the internet’s favorite cat. You’ll be an instant hit – we all know how much Kenyon students love cats.
