Whenever people go on vacation, they always like to bring at least one book with them. However, if you’re anything like me then I’d recommend bringing around 3. In general, I’d say my go-to genre of books is a mix of fiction, mystery and romance. Specifically, in the summer, I tend to read lighthearted and quick read books. Thus, I have compiled a list of my all-time favorite easy and entertaining beach reads!

‘Hopeless’ by Colleen Hoover

To kick off this summer reading list let’s start with one of my all-time favorite books by Colleen Hoover. The book Hopeless follows Sky, an ordinary seventeen-year-old girl who has been homeschooled her entire life by her single mother. That is until she convinces her mother to let her attend a public high school with her peers. Suddenly she meets Dean Holden, a guy with a large reputation and his own set of rumors. There’s something familiar about him that reminds Sky of her troubled past, but she cannot pinpoint exactly what. You may believe where the story may take you, but let me tell you you’ll never guess where the story goes!

‘The Identicals’ by Elin Hilderbrand

Beach reads definitely do not have to just be about romance. As a matter of fact, the book The Identicals focuses on the story of two sisters who live in two separate worlds. By two separate worlds I mean they live two and a half hours away from one another. After not talking for over a decade, a family emergency forces the two girls to switch lives and help stitch their family back together. Hilderbrand powerfully demonstrates just how powerful grief and loss is to families.

‘One Tiny Lie’ by K.A. Tucker

I am not going to lie, when I saw that the protagonist’s name is the same as mine but spelled differently, I had to read this book. If you need an easy-to-read romance book, this is the one for you! One Tiny Lie follows Livie, a freshman at Princeton University and her freshman college adventure after the loss of her two parents. Livie is determined to excel in her classes and prepare herself for medical school, however, with a party animal of a roommate and Ashton, the captain of the men’s rowing team, Livie finds herself going in a different direction. This is definitely a fun and lighthearted read, perfect for a day on the beach.

‘Wanderlost’ by Jen Malone

The book, Wanderlost by Jen Malone has to be one of the quickest books I’ve ever read. I absolutely loved this book because who doesn’t want a European adventure, right? Wanderlost follows Aubree, a recently graduated high school senior, who expects a relaxing summer in boring Ohio until her sister Elizabeth gets into trouble. Ultimately, Elizabeth convinces Aubree to take over her summer job, which includes traveling to Europe and giving senior citizens bus tours. This book has the perfect amount of humor, adventure, and a bit of romance!

‘Until Friday Night’ by Abbi Glines

The book, Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines is definitely one of the more serious books on this list, but don’t let that impact your desire to pick it up. This book follows Maggie, a quiet and closed-off girl who witnessed her father murder her mother two years prior. Maggie has been mute ever since this traumatic event, until one night after a football game, she opens up to West. West, the popular football god, has been dealing with his father’s terminal illness alone until he meets Maggie. The two share a deep connection with one another that no one sees coming.

I hope you enjoy these books as much as I did. Happy reading!
