On March 19th, 2021 Justin Bieber shocked the world yet again by releasing his sixth album, Justice. And let me tell you, he did not disappoint! After listening to the album for a couple of weeks now, I feel confident saying this album is by far his best music he has released throughout his career. The album features various artists such as Khalid, Dominic Fike, Daniel Caesar, Burnaboy and many more. The cool thing about this album is that each song sounds vastly different. The album consists of 16 songs, with a total runtime of 45 minutes and 31 seconds (not too long and not too short). I listened to this album on repeat on the plane and it was perfect! With that said, let’s move on to my rankings of Justice from best to worst (spoiler alert: there are no bad songs in my opinion).

Loved by You (feat. Burna Boy)

Starting off with my #1 favorite song, “Loved By You”. This has got to be my favorite song off of the whole album because of the lyrics. “I hate the way I need to be loved by you?” Come on! Everyone on this planet can relate to this lyric. Plus, it has a great beat that I added to my workout playlist!

Peaches (feat. Daniel Caesar & Giveon)

This song just makes you want to dance! It is so catchy that I always find myself singing it at the most random moments during the day. And if you have not listened to Justice in its entirety, you most likely have heard this song on TikTok. There is now a whole TikTok dance/trend started by Hailey Bieber to “Peaches”.

Ghost

This song breaks my heart every time I listen to it, but it is perfect for your sad playlist. There also have been theories that this song is actually about Selena Gomez and Justin’s relationship. Gomez and Bieber ended things back in 2018, thus the lyric, “If I can’t be close to you, I’ll settle for the ghost of you”.

Die For You (feat. Dominic Fike)

When listening to “Die For You” my initial thought was “oh, this song is about Hailey Bieber.” However, I was mistaken. This song was actually inspired by civil rights activist, Dr. Martin Luther King. In a recent interview with Vogue, Bieber explained Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote, “If you have never found something so dear and so precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren’t fit to live”. Bieber’s goal was to “magnify” the late activist’s voice to future generations to come.

Somebody

When I first saw the title of this song was named, “Somebody”, my initial thought was that it would be very similar to Bieber’s past song, “Somebody to Love”. I couldn’t be anymore wrong! The two are very different and I actually might like “Somebody” a bit more.

As I Am (feat. Khalid)

I believe the song, “As I Am” is one of the most important songs off of the Justice album. This song reflects on Bieber’s own battle with mental health and describes how Hailey was there for him in his darkest days.

MLK Interlude

The 1:44 minute interlude was pulled from a past speech in 1967 from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., discussing the civil rights movement. In a recent interview with Insider, Bieber states, “I know that I cannot simply solve injustice by making music but I do know that if we all do our part by using our gifts to serve this planet and each other that we are that much closer to being united.” And with everything going on in the world right now, I agree with Justin that we must come together as a nation.

Off My Face

This song is 100% a love letter for Justin’s wife, Hailey. And let me say, it’s a dang good love song. It is very clear Justin has fallen head over heels. Throughout the song Bieber uses references of addiction, as he compares the addiction of drugs to love. But of course, with the right person, all these things are good things.

Love You Different (feat. BEAM)

If you love to workout, this is another great song to add to your workout playlist. I love this song because of the lyric, “I will love you different. Just the way you are.” Everyone wants to be loved for who they are, not who they want them to be.

Anyone

If you have not heard of this song, where have you been! Especially if you have not seen the music video as well (spoiler alert: Justin has no tattoos in the video). I absolutely love this heart-wrenching love song.

Unstable (feat. The Kid LAROI)

This song is about how Bieber was in a very bad place and how Hailey was there for him the whole time. I found it very cool how Bieber decided to feature a 17 year old up-and-coming artist on this track as well. Overall, I honestly do not have much to say about this song other than listen to it.

Hold On

This was another song that was released early and it was also stuck in my head since it came out. I especially loved the music video because of the cool aerial shots of Bieber on the motorcycle speeding at night.

Deserve You

This track is a surprise..another love song! “Deserve You” perfectly captures what it feels like to be in love and how it feels to be adored.

Lonely (with benny blanco)

This is another song that makes you want to give Justin a big hug (we all would if we could, am I right)! Throughout the song Bieber illustrates his struggles with loneliness and growing up with fame. And if you check out the music video, you will notice Bieber’s iconic white and purple outfit from his “Never Say Never” days.

2 Much

The song, “2 Much”, sets the theme for the entire album with a famous quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., regarding justice.

Holy (feat. Chance The Rapper)

I wish I would not have to put this song in last place because “Holy” deserves much more. This song was the first song that Bieber released back in September 2020 and he has gone on to perform it live on Saturday Night Live, the People’s Choice Awards and various talk shows. I would strongly recommend you watch the music video as well. It brought tears to my eyes the first time I watched it!

I hope you love Justin’s new album as much as I do! Happy listening!
