Going into Junior year of college, figuring out my living situation for the next school year and getting an apartment was an exciting experience for my best friend Brynna and I.  We lived in a dorm room for the first two years of college, and we were READY to get out!

There are a lot of things I found that are super helpful to look into/out for when in search of an apartment.  One huge factor for me was the location. I wanted something that was close to campus so I didn’t have a long commute. Another thing that was important to me was the price. I was determined to find something less expensive than the dorm rooms.  Not to mention, having good roommates is a must! Lastly, of course, the decorating of our apartment had to be perfect.

I’m sure many of you reading this have experienced or are currently experiencing the dorm life. It definitely has its ups and downs, but there comes a time when you are ready to not live in a tiny room with three other people anymore. When I lived in the dorms I loved the convenience of having a gym right down the stairs from me and a two minute walk to the closest dining hall for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In an apartment, things are a little different. When I was looking at apartments, one of the bonus features to the apartment building I chose is that it has its very own gym downstairs AND a lounge. Luckily, our apartment is fully furnished so we already had things like a stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher, couch, washer and dryer! This is one of my favorite things about our apartment! We also have an adorable air fryer, fashion themed mugs and of course some cute fashionable towels to hang on our oven handle (all 4 of us in the apartment are fashion majors).

Since we are all fashion majors, we decided we needed to have a very aesthetically pleasing living room with peach, white and gold decorations.  My favorite features are our Coco Chanel quote coasters, Vogue magazine display and our fun throw pillows! We also have a large stack of Just Dance Wii games for the weekends:)

Our apartment is a 4×2 which means there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Brynna and I share a bathroom, and we decorated it with turquoise, coral, white and gray. We have cute containers for hair products and other little things, coral colored flowers, a “Hello Beautiful” piece of wall art and some super comfy rugs. We love our spacious bathroom and having a shower that you are able to move around without hitting all the walls is always a plus!

Our favorite part of the apartment is, of course, our bedrooms. Brynna and I are complete opposites, and you will be able to tell this from the upcoming pictures. We loved being able to actually put nails in the walls and add our personal touches to our rooms!

I went for a very cozy and dark color scheme of fuchsia, mauve and black. If I had to name the theme of my room, I would say it is a modern mix with luxe touches. I wanted to incorporate my favorite things into my room design, so I have photographs from my travels this summer, some of my favorite pieces of art, a fashion body form and a lot of pictures of my family and friends. Here is how my room turned out! And, a sneak peek to my huge closet that I am loving.

Now, Brynna went for the opposite color scheme. Her room is very light and airy with the colors white, gold, gray and blush. Her theme would probably be clean boho chic. Her decor is very elegant and clean. She has a wall full of white flowers, a piece of wall art, a boho comforter and adorable little floating shelves with little trinkets all over them. Not to mention her little side table with a geometric lamp, a polaroid of her and her nephew, a coaster and a succulent to top it all off! Here is her room!

Lastly, I wanted to include our little jewelry corners because we are very proud of how they turned out!

Now you have some major inspo for when you are looking for your very own apartment or even just redecorating your room! We had so much fun shopping for ours, and we made sure to do it in the most affordable way possible. I made a lot of my art and thrifted and repainted a ton of my decorations for my room to save money! That’s all for now, I hope you all enjoyed this little article about our first apartment!!! :)
