@kaseys.playlist on TikTok: Niche Playlists for All Your Feels

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

If you have TikTok on your phone and spend any amount of time scrolling through the app’s “For You” page, you are sure to have noticed the rising popularity of making playlists that fit one extremely specific feeling or experience. For those of us who are musically inclined, this can almost serve as a form of therapy. For those of us who cannot seem to compile music in a way that meets our own specific expectations, it can become frustrating searching for the perfect group of songs.

Luckily, our savior has appeared in the form of @kaseys.playlist on TikTok. She creates incredible playlists for every occasion and emotion you can think of. For example, getting over a Taylor Swift “Folklore” hangover with “folklore and beyond” or reliving past concert experiences during the pandemic with “all of my favorite live recordings bc i miss concerts.”

Here are my top five recommended playlists by @kaseys.playlist on TikTok.

classic teen angst

Kicking off my list is “classic teen angst” with a bout of early 2000s alternative rock. Featuring artists such as Green Day, Weezer, and Blink-182, this playlist is sure to take you back.

existential calm

Next is “existential calm.” The serenity is practically palpable when listening to this playlist. With just the right amount of feeling, Bon Iver, Novo Amor and others make up this compilation of songs.

songs every mom loved in 2007

As another playlist full of throwbacks, “songs every mom loved in 2007” delivers exactly what its name promises with artists such as The Fray, The Script, and Snowpatrol.

who needs men anyway

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0T5BmNoiZ1TQ74W4vF6GgR

Next is the girl-powered playlist, “who needs men anyway.” It features all female and non-binary artists. Clocking in at about six hours, it includes countless artists from the massively popular Taylor Swift to smaller artists such as Kate Yeager.

let’s just get in the car and drive

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3hfn1kRzQc33XugmDVhDFT

My personal favorite “let’s just get into the car and drive” is the ultimate folk playlist, perfect for a cross-country road trip or weekend getaway. It covers all sub-genres of folk with artists such as The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons and Mt. Joy.

If none of these sound like your perfect playlist, do not fret! @kasey.playlist on TikTok has countless options and is adding more by the day. You are sure to find your perfect fit.
