How to Dress Like You Have Everything Together (Even if You Really Don’t)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

Finals are fast approaching, which means it is one of the most hectic times of the semester. Between working on projects, finishing up last-minute assignments and studying for exams, it’s difficult to put effort into looking put together. Personally, however, picking out cohesive outfits and doing my makeup, even if it’s just a quick coat of mascara, helps me take a breath and feel like I DO have everything under control. Here are some quick staples I always find myself reaching for when getting ready during busy times!

Clothes

  • A good pair of jeans is a must for everyone. They can be dressed up or down easily and are perfect for throwing on without a thought in the morning! Check out this classic pair from Madewell
  • A simple sweater is my favorite piece to throw on in a rush. It’s polished without being over the top and a very classic piece. I love this one from Anthropologie
  • Boots are my favorite shoe to finish an outfit with. They’re simple and pull any look together effortlessly. This pair by Timberland are super comfy yet simple AND they’re waterproof. Bonus!
  • Tie everything together and stay warm in a gorgeous tailored coat. I’m obsessed with this one by Topshop!

Makeup

When I’m in a rush, I have a very simple makeup routine. Crème eyeshadow is super easy to quickly blend on with your finger. A quick coat of mascara and brow gel later, and you’re out the door! Don’t forget lip balm! These are my all-time favorite 5-minute makeup products!

There you have it, a super quick look to get you out the door looking amazing even on your busiest day. You’ve got this!
