Five Books to Read this Summer Before the Movie Versions Come Out

Summer is finally here (thank god). Hopefully that means you have some fun road trips, beach vacation or tropical adventures to look forward to but whether you have some exciting, adventurous vacations plans or simply just some extra time to relax summer is the perfect time to start all of those books you have been wanting to read but have not been able to find the time. Here are five books to read this summer before the movie versions hit theaters. 

Crazy Rich Asians-  The movies adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s novel Crazy Rich Asians is set to hit theaters August, 17th, 2018. This novel follows New Yorker Rachel Wu as she accompanies her boyfriend, Nick to his friend’s wedding in his native country, Singapore. Rachel quickly learns that Nick family is “crazy rich” and he is Singapore’s most eligible bachelor this causes Rachel to have to deal with a multitude of new problems including an extremely disapproving and opinionated future mother-in-law. 

Where’d You Go, Bernadette- Cate Blanchett is starring in the movie adaptions of this national bestseller by Maria Semple which will be coming to theater May,11th, 2018. Where’d You Go, Bernadette follows the fearless and brilliant, architect, Bernadette who goes missing right before a family trip to Antarctica. Bee, her daughter, is left to figure what has happened to her. 

12 Strong / Horse Soldiers – Chris Hemsworth need I say more. The booked titled Horse Soldiers written by Doug Stanton’s will be making its way to theaters on January, 19th, 2019 under the title 12 Strong. This book follows the true story of a Special Forces team that was deployed after 9/11 in Afghanistan whose job was to fight against the Taliban while on horseback. 

Darkest Minds –  This Sci-Fi thriller starring Amanda Stenberg makes its way to theaters September, 14th, 2018. Darkest Minds is the first in this series written by Alexandra Bracken which follows Ruby who is one of only 2% of kids to survive a plague that left her with superpowers. After escaping her internment camp, Ruby joins others survivors in their search for safety.    

 

The Black Hand- This American mafia movie whose release date has not been set yet will star Leonardo DiCaprio when comes to theater. The book written by Stephan Talty is about the origin’s of the American Mafia and follows New York police officer Joe Petrosino as he stops at nothing to bring down the cruel gang.
