This week’s Campus Cutie is our very own writer, Taylor Pierce. She is a 19-year-old freshman from Sheffield, Ohio. She is majoring in public relations.
Her Campus (HC): What clubs on campus are you involved with?Taylor Pierce (TP): I am a member of TV2, PRSSA, and a writer for Her Campus.
HC: Why did you decide to write for Her Campus?TP: I decided to write for HerCampus because I really love writing, interviewing people, and the idea of creating articles that will help college girls and give them advice. I think the website is really interesting and a lot of the articles apply to my life.
HC: What is your dream job?TP: My dream job is to do public relations work for an entertainment company or a magazine. It would be amazing if I could get a job with Seventeen Magazine or Cosmopolitan.
HC: So you have a boyfriend who has just completed basic training, what was it like to have no contact with him for six weeks?TP: His training was nine weeks, and it was really hard to stay positive while he was away. It was extremely lonely because he left Valentine’s Day weekend, but once I started getting letters from him it got easier. I missed him a lot though, obviously, and it was pretty tough not being able to talk to him. I’m so happy he’s graduated now, and has his phone back!
HC: You finally got to see him at his graduation. What is the next step? TP: His graduation was amazing, and I am so thankful that I was able to go. I only got to see him for two days though, so it was very bittersweet. He’s in Florida now, and I plan on visiting him this summer. I am staying positive and hope that our relationship will remain as strong as it is now.
HC: How long have you guys been together?TP: We have been together for over two years. We started dating back in January of 2013.
HC: Since school is almost over, looking back, what is one memory from freshmen year that really sticks out?TP: One memory that really sticks out to me is being an anchor every Thursday morning on Flashcasts for TV2. It was so much fun, and I made so many friends from joining. It also taught me a lot and showed me what it’s like to be a professional. I’m really grateful to have had that experience and I hope I get the opportunity again next semester!
HC: Summer is almost here. What are your plans?TP: For summer, I am hoping to work back at home and buy a car! I am also planning to go to a Taylor Swift concert in May and a Train concert in July. Also in July, I am running a 5k in Cleveland. I hope to spend a lot of time with my family and friends, and plan to visit my boyfriend in Florida too.
HC: What do the next five years look like?TP: In 5 years, I see myself graduated with a degree. I hope I have a job in a big city, working in the public relations field. It would be amazing to have a job with a well-known company. I also hope I’m not living in Ohio.
