Meet this week’s Campus Cutie: Lily Peters!

Lily has a passion for sports. When she’s not hanging out with her friends, working or doing homework, you can find her cheering on her favorite hockey team: the Vancouver Canucks. This week we caught up with Lily to learn a little more about her.

Age: 19

Grade: Sophomore

Major(s)/Minor(s): Digital Media Production with a minor in Sports Administration

Hometown: Medina, OH

Her Campus: What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

Lily Peters: I love any kind of rock! My favorite bands are Queen and Muse.

HC: What do you love to do in your spare time?

LP: I love playing with my cat. I’m a crazy cat lady!

HC: What is your favorite show to binge watch on Netflix?

LP: I power through seasons of Parks and Recreation like it’s my job.

HC: What are some things you are most interested in?

LP: I am very interested in sports. I’ve fenced since I was 10 years old, so I am very passionate about that. I’m also really interested in animals. If I had it my way, my house would probably turn into a zoo.

HC: Are you involved in any clubs or activities at Kent?

LP: Yes, I am in the Kent State University Fencing Club and also work for Teleproductions on campus.

HC: What made you decide to go to Kent?

LP: Kent has an excellent video production program. When I was looking for schools I was looking for one that offered a lot of hands-on video experience to go along with classes. Kent has countless opportunities to do that.

HC: What made you first interested in your major?

LP: I’ve been really fascinated with video production since I was young. I used to film and edit funny little skits with my friends. In my junior and senior years of high school I studied video at the Medina County Career Center and I think that’s when I realized I could make a career out of it.

HC: Are you currently working? If so, where and what made you interested in that job?

LP: I’m currently working as a student employee for Teleproductions, as well as a broadcast director for the Akron Rubberducks. I became interested in Teleproductions from the opportunities it offered in sports production and video editing. I started off in Akron with a production internship and found that I really liked working on the baseball broadcast. Since then I’ve worked in a variety of positions there.

HC: What is your dream job?

LP: My dream job would be to produce creative content for an NHL team or direct NHL broadcasts.

HC: If you could live or travel anywhere in the world for your dream job, where would you want to go?LP: I would want to live in Vancouver. The city is beautiful.

HC: So you’re a big hockey fan. When did you first get into hockey?

LP: My family is full of hockey fans so it kind of came along with my upbringing! My Dad used to take me to the local rink and sit me up against the glass and we’d watch all of the local teams play.

HC: And what do you love about it?

LP: I love the intensity of the game and the amount of skill it takes to play.
