The Best Brunch Spots in Kent

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

Used as a verb or a noun, brunch has become a staple with millennials. It is the perfect meal around 11 AM where you can still fulfill your breakfast cravings of eggs and pancakes along with a salad or sandwich for lunch. The simple act of going out to brunch with your friends has become a trend, a new normal. With trendy, Instagram worthy spots popping up all around here are some of my favorite spots to brunch around Kent.

Wild Goats Café

Breakfast food is my all time favorite meal and Wild Goats has to be my favorite place in Kent, OH. Plus, they serve breakfast all day so I can get my smoked gouda and bacon omelet at any time. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and the dinner menu is just as good as the breakfast. They also have “Buck Buck Brinner Wednesday” where you can get eight breakfast items for just $1 after 3:00 PM!

Mike’s Place

Mike’s Place is an icon here in Kent, OH. From its funky décor to the crazy flavor combinations, there is something for everyone on their never-ending menu. I most recently tried their grilled cheese with bacon and cinnamon, it was like grilled cheese French toast, and it was delicious. This is the ultimate local hangover cure whether you are in the mood for breakfast, lunch or dinner, all the food is served all day long.

Tree City Coffee

If you are a bagel snob, like me, Tree City is the only place to get a good bagel around Kent. I usually stick with my plain bagel, toasted, with plain cream cheese but their bagel sandwiches are delicious. They also have a whole section of their menu dedicated to different peanut butter sandwiches and a bar if you’re of age.

Rise and Shine Café

Located right downtown, Rise and Shine has all of your breakfast classics. It’s often over looked, but is still a great brunch option super close to campus. The line is always out the door on the weekends, so go early!

If you’re up for a short drive to Hudson, OH…

Yours Truly is a must for their all day breakfast. If you are looking for the ultimate instagrmable spot, you should make your way to Restore Cold Pressed for a beautifully aesthetic aciai bowl.
