Back To School Season Explained Via John Mulaney

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

You know him, you love him, he’s not your dad (but may be eerily similar), it’s John Mulaney fully encompassing all your feelings about being back to school. Look, I know it’s the third or fourth week of college, but we are all still holding onto summer as if we don’t have a test next week. We’re not in the full swing of things just yet, so you’re not alone! The coolest and most pure comedian, John Mulaney, sympathizes with all of us at this awkward shift in the year.

1) Having to go from sleeping in until noon in the summer to waking up for 8 a.m. classes EVERY DAY!

2) When day one is syllabus day and everything feels EASY PEASY!

3) But you know that soon, so soon, your semester will get overwhelming and feel like this…

4) When people start asking you how school is going!

5) Thinking you will drink more water and less coffee this year, but…

6) When your mom calls you and reminds you that you have to eat three healthy meals a day no matter your class schedule.

7) When you break out your five pairs of matching black leggings that will sustain your entire winter wardrobe.

8) Accepting that you will have a wild year because college is a crazy place where you’re figuring yourself out and meeting new people every day.

9) Looking at your plans for the year and wondering how any of that might go… no words needed.

10) Remembering whose tweets you can look at to zen out!

11) When you feel like you can’t handle all the stress, just remember, John Mulaney believes in you!

You will rock this year! We’re all going through it, if it makes you feel better. Here, take a Mulaney for the road!
