If you are looking for advice for a fun and enjoyable Halloween this year, this list is for you. It includes all of the most important festivities you should consider doing.

1. Do Decorate tastefully, Don’t decorate over the top

I know that fall and Halloween decorations are probably your favorites, but doing too much can overwhelm your house, dorm, apartment, room, or whatever other space you are decorating. Be sure to pick a color theme and stick with it throughout the whole space. You may want to do pastel blues, grays and yellows. Or maybe you are more of a bright oranges, reds and yellows type of person. And then there are always the people that love the deep purples, reds and black shades. When it comes to the actual decorations, decide what kind of vibe you want in the area you are decorating. Will it be a pumpkin patch vibe, with different pumpkins, gourds or fall flowers? Or will you go scarier with witches, ghosts and other Halloween characters? Overall, picking what kind of aura you want to put off is the most important step to Halloween decorating. Then, you research some of your favorite Pinterest Halloween rooms and go from there!

2. Do dress up exactly how you want, Don’t focus on other’s opinions

As per usual, Halloween will most likely be a chilly evening. So of course, keep that in mind when you are deciding on your final costume idea. However, dress in a costume that you feel suits you best, and one that you absolutely love! It’s not worth it to worry about what other people, friends, or family will think of your costume. It’s a costume for a reason! One night of dressing up either within or out of your comfort zone is not going to kill you.

3. Do go to a pumpkin patch, Don’t miss your chance

Looking at all the pretty pumpkins, fall trees, leaves and other fall staple items gives us all a major boost of serotonin that we all seem to need in these cooler months. And you can’t forget, being outside in the fresh fall air is a great way to nourish your body. Pumpkin patches are perfect for the best photo shoots with some of your closest friends, your family or your significant other! All your favorite social medias will likely love any pictures you take with the bright hues of orange. Most of the time, a pumpkin patch comes with a cute farmers market or a small shop, too! Use this to your advantage and venture around inside or outside.

4. Do go to a haunted house (or two), Don’t let your fears get in the way of a fun time

I’m not the biggest fan of creepy people with fake axes chasing me around, but I do always enjoy going to a haunted house during Halloween time. It just feels right, as if it’s something I need to do. Whether it’s a small, homemade haunted woods your friends put together, or it’s a legit buy-a-ticket type of haunted house, try it out. You’ll get jump scared only about half of the time, and you’ll make some lasting memories with the ones you love most.

5. Do binge-watch as many Halloween movies as you can, Don’t wait until there’s no point (after Halloween)

Halloween movies are some of my favorite movies to watch. They are usually full of so many details and fun adventures that make watching them worth your while. Not only do you have happy, PG-rated Halloween movies, but you also have all the scary Halloween movies that you could possibly want. Either way, having a movie night with some friends during the last couple weeks of October is a great way to spend a chilly night. Eat some popcorn, put on some Hocus Pocus and enjoy a fun night.

Don’t forget to enjoy yourself this Halloween, and stay warm!
