I am always thinking about how I can live more sustainably for myself and for the planet. Sustainability is consuming responsibly so that there are enough resources for future generations. Here’s a list of some easy ways to be more sustainable that you can implement in your own life!

Repair Broken Items

Sustainability is all about being a smart consumer, and one way to be less wasteful is to repair items when you are able to rather than replace them. Reducing how much you buy is a theme with many of my tips, and this one is no exception.

eat less meat

Not everyone has the willpower to go vegan or vegetarian, myself included. Instead of eliminating meat from my diet entirely, I have tried to reduce my consumption by having meatless meals several times a week. This is a simple change that can make a big difference for the planet.

Wear your clothes longer

One of the trendiest and most harmful consumption practices is fast fashion. The best way to combat fast fashion is to buy items that you really love and wear them for a long time. Again, less consumption equals better for the planet.

Buy second-hand when possible

Buying second-hand gives items a new life, it is cheaper and helps the environment. By purchasing second-hand, you prevent things from going to the landfill. I love shopping second-hand, whether it is at a thrift store or on Facebook Marketplace.

take care of yourself first

It can be easy to get down about the climate. It used to ruin my whole day when I forgot to tell my waiter I didn’t need a straw. I have to remind myself that I am doing the best I can by following these tips and supporting climate policies. This is a difficult topic, but in order to take care of the environment, we have to make sure we are taking care of ourselves.

I hope these tips have given you some inspiration to live more sustainably. If we continue to be responsible consumers, we will all be doing our part to combat climate change.
