Here’s Why Doing Your Nails At Home Is the Best DIY

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kennesaw chapter.

This is an opinion piece

I love getting my nails done. Plain and simple. I love the experience of walking into the nail salon, going to my favorite nail tech, and letting her take my imagination and make it a reality. It’s honestly my favorite thing about being a girl! The only thing is maintenance, and gas adds up pretty quickly.

I found that doing my nails at home not only saves my time and money, but my creativity has hit an all-time high. Not only am I getting my nails done every week (or day if you’re like me and love colors) on my own time and dime, but I’m also learning how to be more patient. I owe the thanks to Tik Tok for showing me this new world of nails because, without it, I would be spending an arm and a leg getting my nails done! Here are some of the nail tools and kits I use to achieve the perfect set at home!

The best part is all the nail tools you need can be found right on Amazon for a great price! I started with the Beetles Nail kit with a mini UV/Led light, nail glue, and long coffin nail tips. The Beetles brand, in my opinion, is excellent for starters, and they have so many options to choose from! Unfortunately, this kit doesn’t come with gel colors, but the company has several gel color sets to choose from. And yes, the long coffin tips are already preshaped and ready for use! You just have to find the perfect sizes for your nail beds!

If you like your nails short or medium, no need to worry; I have just the nail tool for you! This nail cutter has various sizes on the wheel so that you can cut to your desired length; no need to guess if your nail tips are the perfect length! Want to add some cute swirls or smilies? This nail art kit is perfect, and the price is even better!

Breaking down gel polish can take a while so why not use a nail drill? I use this easy electric nail drill to file down my gel polish and buff my nails quickly! How could I also forget we have to protect those hands from the UV/LED light, sis! Try these gloves that will protect you from UV lights!

These are all the tools that I have in my mini nail salon right at home! The investment is worth it, and trust me, you’ll thank yourself in the end!
