A Review of Chloe Bailey’s Album

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kennesaw chapter.

For those who don’t know, Chloe Bailey has a very long history in the music industry. Chloe Bailey has undergone many evolutions, from making covers on Youtube with her sister to being signed under Beyonce. After releasing various singles, she announced in January of 2023 that she would release her debut solo album. As a fan of Chloe Bailey, I was excited to see this new era.

When the album was released, there was mixed reviews about it. Some were saying the album was terrific. Others said that the album was lackluster. As a fan, I, too, had mixed feelings about the album. While the album was great, it was hectic. It was a little hard to follow the album’s theme, yet somehow this confusion added to my level of interest.

The album is called In Pieces, and I believe this title fits perfectly. When you review the evolutions that Bailey has gone through, it becomes clearly illustrated that self-discovery and growth truly are messy. These processes are not linear, nor do they follow a theme. For anyone exploring Chloe Bailey’s music, I recommend that you approach it with an open mind because, among other things, she has put this out as her way of showing the world that she is not the person she used to be. This message, among many others, is the power of her work as a solo artist.
