You’re going to fall head over heels for Shawn Albanese.
The basics:
Year: Junior
Major: Secondary English Education
Hometown: Woodbridge, NJ
Relationship Status: Single
Birthday: August 30, 1989
Her Campus Kean: What about Kean University made you want to attend the school?
Shawn Albanese: The Post Graduate Teaching Program.
HCK: What do you want to be when you “grow up”?
SA: When I “grow up,” I hope to become a successful English teacher. I’m leaning towards middle school, but if that doesn’t work out, high school is my next choice.
HCK: How do you keep yourself busy?
SA: College classes and I tutor ESL students in a program entitled “P.I.E.,” which stands for “Partners In English.” A native speaker pairs up with a non-native English speaker to have conversation sessions. The ESL student becomes more familiar with the English language, while the non-native English speaker becomes familiar with not only a different language, but a different culture as well.
HCK: What is something about yourself most people don’t know?
SA: I had the distinct pleasure of singing with my high school choir at Lincoln Center in NYC. Being able to sing on the stage where some of the world’s famous entertainers made me feel like I was celebrity for a day.
HCK: If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?
SA: The answer I always give is punctual. I despise being late for anything, and I mean ANYTHING.
HCK: You get to adopt one super power, what is it and why?
SA: Flying. I don’t like driving, and If I had to get somewhere without the use of a car, I would fly. This is, of course, after my feet could do no more walking!
HCK: Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it?
SA: What can you do with “Shawn?”
HCK: What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
SA: 1. I want to travel to Hawaii.
2. Meet Paula Deen. Yes, I know this sounds cheesy, but I am a HUGE fan.
3. Lastly, make a difference in a child’s life, especially when it comes to teaching. There is no greater satisfaction than being told by a student, “I learned something today!”
HCK: What’s your biggest pet peeve?
SA: Tardiness. If I’m showing you the respect of getting there on time, why can’t you do the same in return? If you know you’re going to be late, pick up your fancy gizmo and call or text me!
HCK: If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?
SA: A monkey! It always seems to have a good life, climbing on things, eating, etc. Besides, if I can’t be a human, I would want to be something close to it!

Memory: What comes to mind is the award I received in middle school. It was a music award, which was given to me by my music teacher, Roberta TenBroeck. I was the only one in the entire school to receive it. To this day, it’s still hanging on my wall in my room.
