On February 6th at 7:30 PM, Juniata Presents hosted a mini concert by a brass band that had performed at Juniata College back in 2012. Red Baraat, founded in Brooklyn, New York in 2008, is a multi-ethnic group that creates intoxicating tunes that draw their audience out of their seats and towards the stage. With their new album release, the band’s first stop of their tour was at Juniata College!

The band started off with a sense of tranquility; the dhol, drumset, percussion, sousaphone, and the various horn-instruments create a harmonious sound that led the audience to clap along to the beat. Once the lights switched from blue to red, Red Baraat began to pick up the pace. The sense of tranquility transitioned into a rock song that pumped the audience out of their seats!

Everyone flooded to the front of the stage, dancing away with no worries! The theater became sweaty and hot as people were jumping up and down, fist-pumping, and yelling with excitement to the band’s awesome tunes. By the third song, I was drawn to the front of the stage with everyone else.

By the end of the night, everyone was drenched with sweat and their adrenaline was still pumping. Disappointed at how quickly time had passed, the entire audience yelled encore again and again to bring the band back to the stage.

And of course, the band did not disappoint! Closing the night with one of their ultimate-adrenaline pumping songs, Red Baraat gave Juniata’s students a night they won’t forget!
